Panopticon contemporaneo

Designer

Riccardo Cenedella

For Design Week 2026, Riccardo Cenedella presents a series of furniture pieces that represent the tangible outcome of a research project the designer has been pursuing since 2020. The objects in the collection are created through experimentation with materials and the use of waste, both through self-production and in collaboration with Italian manufacturers. As in a contemporary Panopticon, where happiness is measured by the speed of accumulation and disposal of goods, Cenedella questions the boundary between genuine need and induced desire, inviting the observer to do the same. In this context, the output is no longer the product as an end in itself, but acts as a catalyst that questions the logic of possession and accumulation, to rediscover the value of design as a tool for awareness. Collaborations include Barbini Specchi Veneziani, Chroma Composites and Equilibri Furniture.
