The Ironica Collection reinterprets the distinctive features of the earlier Glassa armchair through a freer, more experimental language. Its doughnut-like shape, seemingly simple and immediate, actually conceals significant technical complexity, both in the shaping of the foam and in the subsequent upholstery and base construction processes. The project plays on the contrast between aesthetics and function. Particularly striking is the tension between its elegant, refined appearance and its informal, playful use. The shape recalls the world of food, evoking softness and lightness, yet its pairing with metal creates a unique balance, visually grounding the form and adding a more structured, sophisticated character. With Ironica, the silhouette remains iconic and recognizable, but sheds the composure of Glassa—defined by neutral fabrics and a mirrored steel base to embrace a more expressive dimension. The upholstery comes alive with vibrant colors and textures, while the base becomes a painted tubular structure, introducing a light, dynamic graphic line that transforms the object into an ironic, pop, and contemporary presence. The Ironica Collection explores the doughnut form across three distinct pieces: an armchair combining upholstery and metal; an all-metal side table that reprises the same base as the seating element to create formal continuity; and a sculptural table made from a solid block of marble, hollowed out to form the signature ring shape. The pieces are manufactured by Mabo for the metal components and by Piccinini Marmi for the marble elements.
