3+2Stool

3+2Stool was born from the need for a tilted yet stable seat, designed to support correct posture: a forward-leaning torso and an upright back. Unlike traditional seating, often flat or reclined, the project is based on a movable seat that transforms a postural seat into an active one, allowing fluid, multidirectional movement. At the core of the design is a hemispherical joint housed in a dedicated socket, enabling smooth, uninterrupted motion while maintaining stability. A classic three-legged structure ensures balance, while the user’s legs actively contribute to posture and movement. The resulting experience is one of dynamic equilibrium: the seat remains stable when needed, yet responds intuitively to the body’s motion. The name 3+2 reflects this relationship between object and body, three legs of the stool and two of the user, working as a single system. Developed entirely in wood in collaboration with Tommaso Braceschi, the stool features a triangular central support with a carved hemisphere and dovetail-joined legs, ensuring structural strength without lower reinforcements.
