PolyPiù Cathedral

Studio Marco Piva

PolyPiù Cathedral is a site-specific installation designed by Studio Marco Piva that explores the relationship between technical materials, light and the perception of space. The installation is created using PolyPiù’s PanelPiù 500/40 5-wall opal modular system, transforming a material normally used in roofing architecture into an immersive and contemplative structure.

The composition takes the form of an open pyramid, constructed through a progression of vertically arranged panels. The sequence of modules creates an architectural rhythm that draws the eye upwards, evoking the verticality and monumentality of sacred spaces. Visitors can view the structure through a central opening, becoming part of the work and directly experiencing the relationship between human scale and structural geometry.

The PanelPiù 500/40 5-panel opal is the true star of the piece. Its multi-chamber structure creates depth and allows for soft, even light diffusion. The translucency of the material filters the light and creates continuous luminous surfaces, whilst the internal ribs produce subtle visual variations that change depending on the viewing angle.
